Primitive, Tent, Camper & RV camping: What’s the
difference?
Primitive Camping is really only recommended for experienced
campers traveling in larger groups. But if that’s what you do anyway, primitive
camping can be a mind-blowing experience. Intended to give campers a real sense
of the wild outdoors, South Carolina
primitive camping is available at nearly all state parks and natural areas.
Primitive camping, advice from Stephen Dent, means very little gear, no food (living off the land), and
creating shelter with what you find on the terrain. No tent, no RV, no tarps,
no bull! Primitive camping is considered an expert level outdoor activity and
is NOT for inexperienced campers or small groups.
Tent Camping is probably the most popular style of camping in
the U.S.
Generally the least expensive camping style that allows the whole family to
come along, tent camping is suitable for all four seasons (with the right
equipment!) and is welcomed at all South Carolina camping areas. South Carolina tent
camping offers more access to more activity than most cabin-style camping. Pets
are easy to care for, whether they sleep outside, in your tent, or in a kennel
on the campsite.
Camper & RV
camping is a great choice
for South Carolina
because the weather can often be unpredictable. For people traveling with
inexperienced campers, this is the recommendation for this state or any other
area. Some great sites for South Carolina RV camping are Solitude
Pointe, Columbia-Camden RV Park, and Swamp
Fox Campground in Florence, SC.
The beautiful thing about Carolina camping is that you have so many
options. The varied terrain makes any kind of camping possible, including
equestrian and boating in. But Dent Stephen’s
question is, which one is right for you?
